CT Communications installed an outdoor DAS system covering Mbombela Stadium's seating bowl, hospitality suites, and concourse areas to address severe cellular congestion experienced during high-attendance fixtures. The design placed directional panel antennas at calculated intervals beneath the stadium's roof canopy to direct signal downward into the seating terraces, supplemented by omnidirectional nodes in enclosed concourse areas where the rooftop antennas could not achieve adequate coverage. A fiber backbone connected all antenna nodes to a central equipment room housing the DAS head-end and operator-provided signal sources.

Event-day testing conducted during a sold-out fixture demonstrated consistent 4G LTE service availability throughout the seating bowl, with download speeds measured at spectator level supporting simultaneous video streaming from multiple test devices per antenna sector. The stadium's operations team reported improved staff radio and data communication during events as a secondary benefit of the enhanced in-venue network infrastructure.
