MAJOR MIDRAND SHOPPING CENTRE

CT Communications designed and installed a full passive and active DAS covering this major Midrand shopping centre's 131,000 square metre retail floor, including all basement parking levels, anchor store corridors, and the central atrium. The project involved laying a fiber backbone from a centralised head-end equipment room to 14 remote antenna units distributed across the complex, with a passive coaxial distribution layer extending coverage into the deepest below-grade parking sections that previous antenna surveys had identified as persistent dead zones.

Post-installation testing confirmed signal levels meeting all four major South African mobile network operator acceptance criteria on every measured floor and basement level. The centre's facilities team reported an immediate reduction in tenant connectivity complaints, and the cellular DAS infrastructure formed the foundation for a subsequent building management system upgrade that required reliable in-building network coverage as a prerequisite.
