CT Communications performed a full fiber termination and certification project for a coastal Western Cape shopping centre's newly installed fiber backbone, which had been partially completed by a previous contractor before that engagement ended. The scope involved inspecting all existing cable pulls for route compliance and physical condition, re-terminating connector assemblies that did not meet the specified insertion loss standards, completing outstanding splice closures on the outdoor sections of the plant, and conducting a full OTDR certification sweep across all fiber spans to produce a baseline record for future maintenance reference.
Outcomes Delivered
OTDR testing post-completion confirmed all fiber spans within the specified insertion loss budget, with 100% of connector end-faces passing IEC 61300-3-35 inspection criteria. The certification documentation package produced gave the centre's new facilities management team a reliable baseline against which future maintenance measurements can be compared, replacing the absence of any verifiable records from the original incomplete installation.
